FAQ’S
WHAT IS CBD?
CBD is short for “cannabidiol”, and is the second-most abundant cannabinoid molecule that is produced by the cannabis or hemp plant. The most abundant molecule being THC: which is the psychoactive chemical that is known for making users feel “high” . It is important to note that CBD does not have this effect. Remember, your body has its very own endocannabinoid system, an important molecular system that your body uses in order to regulate and/or perform a variety of critical functions. Our bodies are actually designed to interface with cannabinoids, they are produced naturally by our bodies and CBD binds to receptors in this system.
IS CBD LEGAL?
In the United Kingdom, CBD is legal to both sell and use – providing any THC content of the product is less than 0.2%. All CBD products available on Happy Dragon have either zero or less than 0.2% THC content. If you are travelling overseas, it would be wise to check with the country you are visiting whether it is legal to bring in CBD products, as there are different rules depending on the region you are travelling to.
HOW DO I TAKE CBD?
Most CBD products are taken orally via oil/tincture drops that are placed under the tongue and held for 60 seconds before swallowing with water. Topical creams, balms and ointments are also an effective way of taking CBD, as is vaporising CBD-rich additives or blended vape liquids. It is also possible now to purchase CBD gummies and capsules, used as food supplements.
HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE FOR OPTIMAL BENEFIT?
Whether you’re a first-time user or an experienced user, understanding how CBD works and how to use it can often be confusing, especially since the CBD industry is so new.
Estimate your dosage based on your body weight
As with most substances, individuals with more body mass will require more CBD to experience its effects. With that being said, a good rule of thumb is to take 1-6mg for every 10 pounds of body weight based on the individual’s requirements.
For example, 20MG-33MG would be a good starting dosage for a 200 lb patient, while 15MG-25MG would be best for another who weighs 150 lb.
Because CBD capsules are filled with an exact amount of CBD, they provide a truly accurate way to dose CBD. If your optimal CBD dosage is 16MG-25MG, then simply buy a bottle of 20MG or 25MG capsules and you’re good to go. Plus, it doesn’t get easier than taking a capsule.
Other consumption methods that are just as accurate include CBD applicators, CBD edibles, CBD Gummies, and CBD Shots/Drinks; although they may not be as convenient as capsules.
WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?
There are around 113 different cannabinoids. One of these is Cannabidiol (CBD), and is NOT classified as a controlled drug – it does NOT produce a psychoactive ‘high’. CBD is legal provided it is THC free or does not contain THC above 0.2% (UK). The most ‘famous’ cannabinoid is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – it is ILLEGAL and a controlled drug (Class B in the UK). Any CBD products found to contain more than 0.2% THC would then be classified as illegal. All the CBD products sold on Happy Dragon are laboratory tested and either do not contain THC or have trace amounts of THC less than 0.2%. So you can be assured that what you are purchasing is completely legal, safe and of very good quality.
HOW DOES CBD WORK?
CBD encourages the body to use more it its own cannabinoids rather than binding to CBD receptors. There are two cannabinoid receptors in the human body. CB1 – mostly in the brain and is associated with co-ordination, emotion, mood, appetite, pain. CB2 – is associated with immune system and pain and inflammation. Our bodies also produce certain cannabinoids naturally. THC attaches to the CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors, to some extent. THC acts as a partial agonist switching on the receptors.
are there any side effects of taking cbd?
Any side effects that may be experienced are extremely rare. However there may be some such as changes in appetite, dizziness, diarrhoea, nausea. It is not recommended for anyone under 18 or pregnant women.
